We fitted some lights to our roof rack for our camp and a new interior light in the boot, these all run off the auxiliary battery. We put the truck in for it?s interim service and to attend to safety recall which resulted in them replacing the timing chain tensioner. We have a bit of light rain before we hit Bunbury to pop in and see family who said they had a thunderstorm last night.<\/p>\n<p>Back on the road Nannup is our destination. A few kms south of Donnybrook rain visits us again then the thunder starts on and off all the way to Lake Jasper and temp is only 25 deg, perfect! The town of up Nannup is quietly going about its working day. We top up the tank at Nannup and drive on to Lake Jasper. The rain becomes heavier and thunder is rolling all around us while the temperature drops and wind picks up.<\/p>\n<p>We turn off for Lake Jasper, what a difference some rain makes. They were wondering if the road out was open because the sign said it was closed. They indicate they had come from Black Point. We tell them we?ve just come through and all is good. After we set up the awning we make a cuppa and relax. Before setting up camp we head off for a walk. On the way we see a pie dish beetle and then we reach the shore of Lake Jasper, gee it&#8217;s large and to think it&#8217;s fresh drinkable water!<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style largest freshwater lake in WA, approx 2 x 4 kms in size and with a depth varying from 3 to 10 mts. It falls within the D?Entrecasteaux National Park<\/p>\n<p>By about 5.00pm it appears the storm has passed us by, we put tea on and settle in for the night.<\/p>\n<!--nextpage-->\n<h6><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><em>Thursday, 26th Febraury 2015<\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n<p>We awake to a fine day, a little bit cool and cloudy but no rain insight. We were relaxing after breaky when around 8.30am we hear a car coming in ? hmmmm&#8230; visitors.<\/p>\n<p>They pull in and have a look but seem disappointed that we?re here in the best spot; they probably thought they were early enough to grab this one. Anyway they drive off and then come back and it sounds like they set up in spot #1. They set up and leave. About 10.30am another car pulls in and again don?t look happy that the best spot was taken ? they leave.<\/p>\n<p>Although the cool weather is welcome we had come prepared to take a dip thinking it would be hotter than it was, oh well next time. We spend the rest of day relaxing, reading and go for another walk hoping to get some photos of the local bird life but we only manage a purple swamphen and a beetle. Not sure if it?s the time of the year but we don?t see much bird life, only an occasional purple swamphen and one fantail that visited our camp twice but no photo. The reason? The Nannup Music Festival is on. We pass through and keep going.
