Day 10 Emu Rock to Home

Sunday, 28th December 2015

During the night a group of people arrived and set up camp. Morning came and we set off for home. The first part of the trip was still on gravel as we headed to Hyden. We pulled in at the small picnic area near Wave Rock so we could re-inflate the tyres. While doing this we spotted a scorpion so grabbed a few photos before moving him out the way.

Normally we just head straight home from Hyden but this time we decided to take a different route home. We went through Kulin, what a lovely little town. The road out of Kulin is called the Tin Horse Highway. This is a very entertaining stretch of road with “horses”. These horses are made of many things, 44 gallon drums, old bikes and any other bits and bobs. There are horses diving, riding tractors and doing other activities. It was originally started to advertise the Kulin Bush Races but has grown from there. We were so caught up in looking at them all that we forgot to take some photos – oh well, next time 🙂

As we neared home we turned off the Brookton Hwy and went through the Lupton Nature Reserve. We saw the most kangaroos we’ve ever seen with the largest mob being about 13 including young joey but there weren’t any photo opportunities. Back on the Brookton Hwy we headed home while discussing our next destination.
